Archpriest Yosyp Usyk is a co-founder of the mission and serves as its spiritual father.
Path to the priesthood
Archpriest Yosyp Usyk was born on 21 March 1986 in the city of Drohobych in the Lviv region. He completed primary school in Uniatychi, the Ivan Franko secondary school in Nahuievychi, and music school.
In 2003 he entered the Kyiv Theological Seminary of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, in 2008 he completed a bachelor's degree at the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy, and in 2009 he completed a master's degree at the Lviv Orthodox Theological Academy.
On 12 July 2009 he was ordained to the diaconate, and on 23 August of the same year he received priestly ordination. On 18 November 2009 he was appointed rector of the Church of the Holy Unmercenary Saints Cosmas and Damian in the village of Bilychi.
Service in the mission
From 1 June 2016, he served as the keeper of the Cathedral of the Meeting of the Lord in Drohobych.
On 26 July 2025 he became a co-founder of the civic association “Kaplanská mise pro pravoslavné Ukrajince v České republice” and now serves as the mission's spiritual father.
